Like many of you I grew up watching and reading about motocross. The glory days of the mid-70s, when technology jumped forward in leaps and bounds and stars were born! When you made cardboard number plates for your Schwinn and did wheelies up and down the sidewalk pretending to be Bob Hannah. When motocross was all about going really fast on gnarly terrain and not so much about perfectly timing a groomed second-gear double in an otherwise flat farm field or hockey arena.
I don’t know, perhaps this is all part of some nostalgia trip. Hey, I’m still new to actually competing on vintage bikes and I learn more about the sport every day! I do know I love muscle cars and detest little front wheel drive cracker boxes, so naturally I enjoy going to check out the cool hot-rod cars on Sunday nights. The same thing applies to classic dirt bikes I guess, except vintage racing is like going to a muscle car cruise night where the drivers are actually encouraged to let ‘er rip!
